Welcome to Red Gate labs

This page contains links to projects that Red Gate's development team is currently working on. We'll be posting up beta programs, proofs of concept, free tools, and just generally interesting things. Not everything here works particularly well, and stuff might appear and vanish occasionally, but please have a play around and let us know what you think.

Red Gate Snapper

A little tool that allows you to create SQL Compare snapshot files for SQL Server databases.

Red Gate Scream

A nifty little tool that allows you to compare snapshot files from SQL Compare.

Red Gate Memory Tracker

A tool for analyzing application memory usage, including loaded libraries, system heap memory and .NET memory.

Red Gate ANTS script tester

A tool that lets you interactively run run and view test scripts created by Red Gate's ANTS Load software.

DTS Package Compare

Compare DTS Packages on SQL Server 2000 servers.

SQL Backup to MTF Converter

A GUI for the sqb2mtf.exe utility to convert backup files created by SQL Backup into native SQL Server backup files.

Log Shipping Monitor

A tool for collating and summarising SQL Server Log Shipping activity.

Maintenance Plan Conversion Wizard

A tool for converting existing SQL Server 2000 and 2005 Maintenance plans to utilize the functionality of SQL Backup.

Diagnostic Tool

This is a small .NET application that can be used to collect useful system information. It can copy the data to the clipboard or a logfile ready to be emailed back to our Support team. It needs the .NET framework installed, and should be run locally from the computer to be 'diagnosed'. Open this zip archive and drag the executable file to the computer's desktop, then run it and follow the instructions!

Exception Merger

This is a tiny application that can use Red Gate's Exception Hunter to automatically detect unhandled exceptions and add them to the XML documentation produced by Visual Studio 2005. Example assembly, source code, and example script for creating help files for assemblies using Microsoft's Sandcastle documentation tool are included.
