SQL Multi Script Server List Manager
This program allows you to import SQL Multi Script database lists from one configuration to another, or to another computer. It accepts a source file and a destination file, each one being the location of an Application.dat file created by Multi Script.
Installation
Download the ZIP file at the end of this article and extract all files to a folder on your hard disk. Run the program by double-clicking the .exe icon.
Usage
Exporting your database lists
To export your database lists, run the program by double-clicking the icon. If an Application.dat file does not exist in the local program folder, your own Application.dat file from your user profile is automatically selected as source and the database lists contained within are available in the database lists listbox.
Choose a destination filename by clicking the dest button or by typing in the name. If the file does not exist, List Manager will copy the source file and remove all existing lists from it. Select the lists that you want to export to this file from the available source lists in the listbox. To select multiple lists, click each one, and click again if you want to remove the database list from the ones to copy. Finally, click the "Copy selected lists..." button.
Distributing your database lists to other SQL Multi Script users
To distribute your database lists, first locate an Application.dat file from your user profile (%userprofile%\application data\red gate\sql multi script\Application.dat) or use the procedure above to create a filtered set of lists, and rename the file as Application.dat. Place this file in the same directory as List Manager, along with the executable and the DLL files distributed with it.
At the destination user's computer, copy all files to a directory on the local hard disk and then run the List Manager executable. List Manager will detect the local Application.dat file as the source file and the Application.dat file in the user's profile as the destination. To migrate the database lists to the user's profile, simply select the lists that you want to add from the available lists textbox and click the "Copy selected lists..." button. Any selected lists are then added to the currently logged-on user's Multi Script program settings. If any database lists exist in both the source and destination files, you will be prompted as to whether or not you want to replace these lists.
Editing databases in the database list
Version 1.1 of the list manager will allow you to do some basic manipulation of database lists. You can sort alphabetically, either ascending or descending, find databases, move databases up or down in order, and delete databases. If changes are made, clicking "save" will save the database list to the "source" list. This may seem counterintuitive, however, since individual lists can be copies from the main window, it makes sense to modify the source list.
To access the databases window, double-click on the list that you want to change. To delete a database from the list, highlight it and remove it using the delete key.
